It's my girlfriends birthday next week and I am planning on surprising her by cooking her favorite food, lobster. I was just wondering, with the two of us, do I get just one lobster for the both of us or one lobster for each of us? I've never had lobster before, so I have no idea. She doesn't really eat a ton, she is very tiny. Also, what is a good side dish with lobster what kind of wine? My last question is, what is a good dessert or should I ask her the dessert question? I would like it all to be a surprise, but if I should ask her what dessert she likes I guess that's ok.

One lobster for each person. Side dishes depend on if you want it casual or fancy... Don't forget the drawn butter with lemon on the side.

I'd go with a pinot grigio or pinot blanc. Pinot noir if she likes red.

Go to your local seafood store, and get two small lobsters when you are cooking them, don't over cook them or they will be tough. A great side dish would be rice pilaf or maybe fresh sauteed veggies. For wine, a reisling or white Zin. Deseert...cheesecake

for my x's bday awhile back i just acted like i didnt kno it was her bday till late that night and after she feel asleep pissed i set up a lil dinner thingy with ice cream sandwich deserts...

I just want to say that I think thats really sweet of you. Im glad you arent just going out to a restaurant and letting someone else do it.

Honestly.. you could screw up the whole meal, and Im sure she'd appreciate the fact that you tried to do it yourself. That shows more character and love than just paying any bill, no matter how large.
