She Started It by Ron H.
I swear I’m innocent of the charges at hand I may look guilty, and I understand The smile on my face hints at no remorse I had an accomplice, it’s her fault of course Don’t blame me for falling in love I cannot be helped if I’m thinking of Getting in trouble, so I must admit She started it, she started it! I’d beg for mercy, but I’m sure that won’t fly With that grin on my face and a gleam in my eye The jury can see that I’m guilty as charged But the one who’s to blame is still at large I stand before you and I’m just as shocked I’m so caught up in this, and my world’s been rocked Blindsided by beauty, entranced by her wit She started it, she started it! The proverbial lock, the proverbial key The proverbial book should be thrown right at me My one last request to the judge I must tell: “Make sure when you catch her she’s put into my cell” What will happen to me in the end When the hands of justice descend Will she blame me, or will she admit She started it, she started it! |
