Ok.... just heard that there is a station (tv) that is doing a countdown kind of thing for Patrick Swayze. How many days he has left. That’s disturbing in and of itself, but what’s more disturbing is that I have heard some seens think 1. it’s cool b/c Patrick is so "old" that it’s ok if he dies, and 2. they don’t ever want to get so "old" ( as him, 55) as to have wrinkles. O Come on! really? I am so stunned by those statements. Ok I know, I am 25 so you’re thinking, the new man is pretty sensitive to this whole aging thing. But actually I am not. What I AM sensitive to is 1) the lack of empathy our society is producing, and 2) the thought that teens are really that brainwashed by all the media crap about how its "wrong" to age etc.

I have never heard any of them say that they want to die BEFORE the first wrinkle hits.

I could jump on my soapbox about the things in our culture that are creating the lack of human connectedness and empathy, but I will hold back. Instead, I open this blog up to a discussion about death and aging from the view point of teens.

I remember being young, and thinking I would never die, never show my age etc. so the basic underlying thought is there. But the FEAR factor of aging seems to be a new turn of events for this generation.

Care to enlighten me? Anyone really want to kick the bucket before crows feet appear?? What’s the deal with the reactions to the Swayze death watch? I am truly curious.

Wrinkles don't scare me, but I'd like to go before I'm in diapers again...

It would be cool to see a movie made in the 80s with Patrick Swayze and Kurt Russel!

But it still sucks that people are like "oh hes just some 80's hack its ok to let him die, but ohhhh noooo heath ledger! he was the greatest noooooo!"

grumble

it is the complete seperation of faith, and morals that have lead to this behavior. there is no limit to the lack of compassion being levelled on us with this growing trend.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late January 2008 and has been undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments at the Stanford University Medical Center.Swayze has admitted to have smoked up to three packs of cigarettes per day, which can be a leading cause of pancreatic cancer.

 I hope and pray he beats this, the last I heard he WAS?? And my PRAYERS go out to him and his family...
FOLKS he's on the edge of death, could WE ALL respect the simple fact that one of our human beings in this country is in need of our HEARTS and NOT make fun of what he has or hasn't been in your mind. HAVE WE COME DOWN TO THIS?
