I cannot forget your words
That day you walked away,
It really made me think.
I wished you could have stayed.

You told me not to cry
And made me promise to be strong.
I never thought the pain
Would hit me so darn hard.

Though I loved you so,
I let you board your flight,
I let you go away,
Because keeping you weren't right.

The tears I cried were selfish
That day my heart had died,
I wished that I could have kept you
Though I really tried.

When I heard the news
To another you had wed,
I sent my thoughts with joy,
That night I cried upon bed.

You never knew my sorrow
Though my friend you would remain,
I gave you my own blessing
Then again you went away.

Now your just a memory
Sitting in my mind
Every now and then
I pray that you're alright.

I'm glad you never saw
The horrors I've been through
Though the time we shared,
Gave a smile to hold on to.

Though we may never cross
Our paths again in life
Thank you for the smiles
That brought me through my strife.
