home from school the other day and said, " Mom, can I do a facebook, or a my space page?" So I said sure, why not. He told me that alot of his friends at school keep asking him if he is on either one of them, so he really wants one now. From what I know, facebook is for teenagers mostly, and then my space is mainly for older people, Is that right??? Also, is there a age limit to set up on whichever one, he is 13.

Thanks.

there's no age limit... honestly, you have kids and adults on both. Just make sure you monitor what's going on on his site...

and be careful! my nephew got on myspace on my computer and I got a whole bunch of viruses on my laptop... took me forever to straighten it out.

I don't know about Facebook but you have to be 13 to have a MySpace page.

whatever you do, make it clear to your child NOT to give personal info to strangers.

Monitor the info on your child's page.

Really make certain that privacy is guarded.

predators, you know, stalk kids.

have fun with it and be safe

my son has a my space and its all good!!! he's 15

we are doing the page on facebook, (no particular reason why) not my space. Aren't they about the same?

go facebook for him.

myspace gets CONSTANLY bombarded with spam... every day i get 2 or 3 friend requests from some half-naked chick who wants me to watch nude webcams and stuff.

I know you are already setting it up on facebook, but I like myspace more to be honest. he can change the layout on his profile to things he is into and it is a lot more simpler to understand than facebook. I have both and myspace is better in my opinion. But I think as long as you take precautions (setting up to where it is private for example) your son should be fine on either site. good luck.

about a year ago, it required a college-based email address to get an account there... recently they've started allowing anybody with an email address to sign up.

It is a bit harder to navigate than myspace, but you can put applications on your page that (I think) would keep a kid more easily entertained than myspace would with just pictures/bulletins/blogs to read...

I prefer myspace over facebook, I have both, but myspace is spammed (and hacked) waaaaaaaaaaay more than facebook is.
