God was sitting in heaven one day when a scientist said to Him God we don`t need you anymore.Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing-in other words we can now do what you did in the beginnind.Oh is that so?Tell Me replies God.Well says thescientist,we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it thus creating man. W ell that`s very interesting show Me said God.So the scientist bends doen to the earth and starts to mold the soil into the shape of a man. No No No interrupts God get your own dirt.

So the scientist bends doen to the earth and starts to mold the soil into the shape of a man. No No No interrupts God get your own dirt. the scientist doesn't need the dirt but can just use his own skin cells and create a clone .."Man in his own image" ... |

a scientist said to Him
I’m glad that you stated the joke the way you did because it’s not true that all scientists are atheists. Neither is it true that the scientific community as a whole denounces the need for a ‘God’. On the contrary, science as an intellectual discipline makes absolutely no statements about the existence or nonexistence of a God. Science doesn’t support atheism. It simply doesn’t deny it. Science doesn’t support pantheism. Although the evidence of science thus far doesn’t conflict with it either. Science doesn’t support the biblical God. But the evidence of science does conflict with biblical stories if taken as verbatim facts. There are actually many Christian scientists who aren’t bother by that latter fact because they don’t view the Bible as a verbatim book of facts. Instead they view it as a religious doctrine of moral parables. So in this way they see no conflict because they know the Bible does not need to be taken verbatim as though it was intended as a scientific textbook. Cute joke though. It is true that to be fair the scientist would need to start with his own dirt. What most people aren’t aware of is that science is actually working on that problem right now. However, the answer may well turn out to be that they will actually discover the true nature of God. And then they'll realize that God is dirt, and that the Pantheists were right all along. |

who owns the skin cells?
That’s an interesting thought. If God ‘owns’ us then he never really gave us any gift of free spirit. Instead all we would be is his pets. I think the whole idea behind having a benevolent creator is the idea that she gave us a free spirit. Otherwise we would just be the slaves of a fascist dictator that cloned us from the dirt. |

the moral to the story is a laugh providing has a sense of humor
Of course its funny. The idea that a scientist would differentiate between dirt and life in the first place is an oxymoron. That’s a joke in itself. But most laymen probably wouldn’t get that part of it. |

I think it’s an interesting joke because it brings up deeply philosophical questions.
For example, what if men could create dirt? Basically we’re talking about the ability to create the atoms here, as well as all the forces that make them stick together the way they do. Actually it is this puzzle that scientists are currently pondering. Many people think that evolution somehow has something do to with life evolving on earth. But in truth, the real puzzle is why does the carbon atom naturally evolved into DNA when it combines with the other elements? The “design” for life was in the structure of the atoms long before the earth was even formed. The code for ‘life’ is in the dirt. Scientists realize this. However, that alone does not explain the miracle. What if man could create the atoms and all the natural forces. Would that be enough to constitute life? Atheists say yes. Spiritualists say no. I am both a scientist and a spiritualist. I believe there needs to be more to it than just the atoms that make up the stuff of the physical world. There needs to be a spirit to perceive it all. And this is where the creator comes in. The creator is the perceiver. The creator cannot create perceivers. All the creator can do is create the atoms the dirt with which he can form living creatures from. However, if he wants those living creatures to perceive and experience the world then he must become them. And this is how I see the world. This is my world view. We are the manifestation of the creator of the physical world. We are the spiritual beings who are creating this physical world. We are the God who made our own dirt. If we are talking to God we are talking to ourselves. To believe otherwise would require that the creator not only created our physical forms but also created our spiritual form. However, if is the case then all that God would be doing is giving birth to entities precisely like itself. In other words we would be nothing more than children of God, not to be forever locked in a lesser form, but to genuinely grow up to be precisely the same type of entity as the one that gave birth to us. In other words, if God is are ‘Father’ then we are also Gods and when we grow up we will become just like our father in ever way. However, if that’s true, then there are infinitely many Gods. God’s procreate and give off offspring just like humans do. Maybe that’s the way things really are. Who knows? Obviously no one. Interesting thoughts to ponder though. Personally I think my cat is God. He seems to be totally content like as if he fully understands precisely what’s going on. |
