Topic: Lets Do It....... | |
---|---|
One Day every month we should pick A day like the 16th not to stop and get gasoline or buy gas...Rich people are putting there money into fossil fuel and driving the price up. If we back not buying it once in A while maybe the price will come down but everybody has to do it. We should start A world wide e-mail. I'm in........

this is a good idea. However a better solution would be to boycott just exxon/mobile. That way we can still get gas when we need it. They are the biggest oil company i can think of. If we all boycotted them they would be forced to lower their price. After lowering their price enough we can start buying from them again which will make everyone else lower their prices to compete. We do have the power to pull something like this off. We just have to get a LOT of people to join us.

Why don't you start a chain mail to that effect? I know I've never seen one of those before. That's an original idea.

I'm in........ it's a good idea starhawk...but unfortunately, you are talking to a 'nation' of people who just don't care enough to be inconvenienced. we want what we want when we want it... it's just so much easier when the rest of the population suffers for us. we're so generous that way. |

seriously guys and gals we really do need to get the ball rolling on this. Talk to your friends/family/coworkers. Start chain mails, etc.
The rules are: on the 16th of every month do not buy gas. When you buy gas do not buy from gas stations that sell exxon/moble products. We should do this until gasoline reaches around $1.80 a gallon or so. This really can work. We just have to take the responsibility. |

You know.... I thought, until about a minute ago, that I had some control issues.
Turns out that if I do, they are mild in comparison. This thread made my day. Thank you everyone! |

This really can work. We just have to take the responsibility. sad isn't it? thats the part we hate the most: taking responsibility. in the last 20 years, we have worked so hard to perfect the 'art of passing the buck' to the other guy. surely you can't expect us to stop now just to save ourselves. its easier to complain and lay blame in every direction, rather than take that power for ourselves. |

This really can work. We just have to take the responsibility. Basic economics.. Realizing how the industry actually works...etc... Speaks loudly to the fact that it doesn't make any difference at all. Walking, car pooling, public transportation, alternative fuels, spending less on things you don't really need, buying within your local community? Incorporating these practices into your everyday life? That might make a dent. |
