Topic: why do people online pretend to be something other than who

I am new to this and I am not naive, but for the life of me I do not understand why everyone wants to pretend to be something other than who they are. Are people in general so disgusted with their own self, that they need to pretend to be someone else. I myself and me all are who we say we are. I truly believe that is what's wrong with this world. No one wants to what they are. I might not be happy that I got hurt and am disabled, but I have had to face that fact. I changed what I do just to be able to work at something. I doubt any women truly would want something like me but at least I am honest about who and what I am. One of the last true hippie's. Peace

ok im slapping your fingers right now for saying something so awful as to who would want someone like you? what is that supposed to mean. there is beauty in every living creature. you too are beautiful, never ever feel any differently!!! and that is a good question as to why people pretend to be someone else. they should be themselves...agreed.

I don't think it's self-digust... I think it's the fear of not being accepted or admired. I have often wondered this myself, how so many people try to be something or someone else. All the best to you for being you! Pretending to be someone or something else just ends up hurting you in the end, so keep on living as you are!

People hide everywhere. It's just easier on the Internet. Count on 90% of people lying about at least something. They lie to feel better about themselves, whether it to feel smart, pretty, important, wealthy, get attention or be desired. It's not right, but we can't stop it. It just means you appreciate the honest ones more and learn to keep your guard up.
