A Jilted Lover

The flowers are a lovely shade this spring,
Almost the color of a butterfly's wing.
And the clouds are a pale, fluffy white,
Lost in the pink of that little girl's kite.
And your eyes are like pools in a meadow,
With an effervescent glow.
And the skin of that new born baby,
Is whiter than the snow.
But you are blind to all the colors,
Your heart has turned coal black.
To all the beauty of the world,
On which you've turned your back.
It seems to me, that when we were kids,
And time would pass swiftly by.
That it was on those hot, starry nights,
When your heart first started to die.
It was then that the colors first started,
To turn to that desolate gray.
And it broke my heart to hear your sigh,
As your colors floated away.
Think of all the love lost,
As we slowly drifted apart.
You, to your world of darkness,
Me, to a broken heart.
But you couldn't hold onto your colors,
In the midst of all your fears.
And your world slowly tumbled around you,
As you wept your silent tears.
If only you had tried harder,
You might still love me today.
But you gave up and ran,
You let your colors fade away.
These are the words she said to me,
These words that were so unkind...
Isn't it funny, that in this world of color,
She was the one born blind?
