Good morning shoes.flowerforyou

I'll agree with the lawyers and add lobbyists, and (many are not of the same opinion)but *anyone* who is overly ambitious or OVERLY concerned about being upwardly mobile.

I'm by no means anti - ambition or monetary gain, I just am particular about agendas, where values lay, and smelling the roses.
Good morning Beach .. I think that we all can say Oh what someone does for a living does not matter but I find that there are a few personality things that goes along with how people chose to make thier way in this world .. I am not saying that there are not exceptions .. Make a rule and someone will break it .. but for the most part .. So you are reading a profile and you see certain occupations I was wondering if other people draw a conclusion .. or if they would be honest about it if they did .. just some thoughts this am ...

Judgeing someone by their profession is the same as judging someone by their skin color.... why are people all about being judgemental???

However, I do perfer when people judge me right off the bat... it tells me the caliber of person I am dealing with... and then I don't deal with them.... Saves alot of time.

Well in a perfect world - and last time I checked on line dating was far from it .. we would not ever judge anyone .. but the truth of the matter is that we do .. we size up thier education levels, and I agree what you do should not define who you are .. but it can .. I did not realize how much identity was tied up in a job until I lost mine a few years ago.. I just throw stuff out there and get information.. it is interesting the ones that are really honest and give full and complete well thought answers .. Conversation is a lost art ..

who is we? I judge people on an individual basis. The people that I have in my circles of friends also do the same, I refuse to lower my standards to people who cannot think for themselves, and judge people as a group or mob mentality. It's not so far fetched to think that people do have brains and can see that this lawyer was a jerk, but this one is ok...

I agree with you conversation is a lost art. I learn the most from people whom I don't agree with, but yet can carry on a respectable conversation and still get their point across without getting defensive, or nasty about it. I may not take their opinion on as my own, but when intelligent respectable responsible conversations are held... I can further my intellectual and spiritual growth.

Just my 4 1/2 cents worth of rambling...sorry.... I do that.

I totally included you in the well thought out answer group .. I would love to say that when I am cruising profiles that I don't even think about what they do but the truth of the matter is I do .. and so do a lot of folks if they will just admit it .. I am not saying that I would not date a lawyer .. I have .. I have dated doctors , and an FBI agent at one time .. I have dated a plethora of occupations and some of my conclusions have been based upon my personal experiances .. would I turn someone down just based on occupation no but if I am ready profiles I may not pursue someone based on that .. JMHO .. I think it is marvy that you don't ..

I love the word plethora....It's the best word ever....

For me, as long as he has a job, and likes his job, I really don't care what he does... if he b*tches all the time about it... then I don't like that. If he is unemployed more than employed, I don't like that either.

but honestly as I said very early, my ex husband was an engineer, I don't think they are the best suited for me, but I certainly wouldn't dismiss one either.... Afterall even though he bored the sh*t out of me.... he did have alot of good qualities also... I'm just cursed to see all sides of the story.

Now garbage man.... he may have to change clothes before he gets home... but if it is what he likes to do... I'll support it.

Oh and to add to that.... his job must be legal and I can take him home to my brother the cop..... so no illegal professions.

Porn star.... debateable.... I mean who wants to bring their work home with them???? Same with OB/GYN.....

I think that reading profiles....and turning down someone based on their occupation may be causing some to miss some really interesting people.
I've read a lot of judgement in this thread and it hit a little close to experience.
I am a Professional Trucker. Now I am labeled. So one judges by that tag...and I am passed by. Thats ok....their loss.
But they dont bother to find out that I work local and that it is not just a job, but a 30 year career that I take seriously.
I'm finding it superficial that the judgements we make so control our decisions.
Hmmmm....a trucker and a biker.........might as well deactivate.

well I am thinking that those of us that are making these decisions are making them based on something more about us then the occupation.. for instance prehaps someone that can't or couldn't date an OTR driver needs a man that is home everynight .. I am not sure what the union referance has to do with that .. Prehaps it is more telling about that person then the occupation they are not interested in .. and I might be missing out on some fabulous pimping drug dealing folks .. that is a risk I personally am willing to take ..
