Yeah but, what's a "date restaurant" considered to be? Maybe dont do a "date" restaurant...more like a coffee shop, depends on what you both like, ideal for me would be the local pub for burgers and cokes to watch the hockey game.... |

Great advice! Ok what's considered a "date restaurant?" I'm in the process of having one this afternoon. Nothing's is set . It's snowing so, I'd like something cozy. Do I let him pick, should I have some idea's? What do you have for advice for me? If it's the first date, it kinda depends on how formal...a cozy cafe for coffee and a slide of pie maybe...I wouldn't go real fussy, keep it casual. I think all first dates should be planned as a casual meet and greet and if ya hit it off you can build from there. Ya know, people often overlook their Town Square. There are always cute and cozy cafes there and then ya can take-in the antique and gift shops, maybe grab some sandwiches and have lunch in the Town Square park....All of it allows you talk and learn things about one another subtly.. |

You know what, do simple. Coffee shop, donut shop, denny's, something simple, no lines for seats(cause those are usually akward when you're waiting to sit down and really don't know what to talk about). I would say out during your first encounter. If you click and everything is going well during dinner/snack/whathaveyou, then maybe go out for drinks. |

And you like hockey too! Can I have a second chance? I'll shower and get a manicure! |

Not always, but I dont do just drinks on a first meeting... drinks with food is fine, again, if YOU feel comfortable with it. |

This is exactly the first date i prefer....cozy cafe and other places to take a walk and casually talk...i'm the type that does best if i can move around a bit... |

Yep, me too, moving around and having other things to do and talk about helps ease the tension of a first date and...I think this kind of a date is a lot easier on the wallet..save the dinner date for when ya KNOW ya wanna see one another again. |

The cozy cafe idea really sounds nice. But what do you do when your choices are limited to a fancy steakhouse or the local dives like the bowling alley, Bert's Bar and Greasepit, and The Dirty Fork. Not very attractive alternatives. Forget the food and do something else?

I don't need a date. I need someone I can be relaxed and unpretentious around, someone who'll hang out with me, like my dear deceased wife did. That's hard to find, though, so I figure I'll pretty much relax and chill till something comes up. But, yeah, I do subscribe to the show up on time in clean clothes bit. I'll clean up the car and spring for the date and all, though if she insists on paying her way, no big deal. I don't have a cell phone, so turning one off is no big problem with me, but I would appreciate it if my date turns her cell phone off. Anyone got any tips on re-animation?
