Topic: whos really the bad guy? | |
---|---|
The opinions on this topic run strong and deep. Everyone has their
facts, and they certainly don't all agree. I think the war in Iraq can be argued much in the same way you could argue religion, with facts and data to back any arguement. So for now I will say - thank God we are here in the US, and thank God there are guys who are willing to defend our rights to have this argument. God bless those whose lives are at risk, and God save those who put innocent people in harms way for no good reason. And regarding the invasion of the US by the Europeans a few centuries ago, I feel no pride about what we did to the good people of the land here on this continent. They were people of the earth, and people of nature, and they loved and cared for the land. In comparison, we have been a plague on this continents soil. I'm grateful to be where I am and who I am, but I'm not proud of how some things have been done historically. I'm thinking the current time will be viewed similarly in the future. I could be wrong. Blessed be. |

Whether the "Clintonista regime" provided the intelligence on the WMDs
in Iraq is a moot point anyway. The fact is, and obviously this bears repeating since some don't seem to quite get it. REAGAN GAVE BIO & CHEM WEAPONS TO IRAQ. THAT'S RIGHT...A REPUBLICAN!!! Let's face, whether Dem or Rep, US foreign policy has been its own worst enemy too many times in recent history. The US fully supported Russia during the war against Nazism. After that, it was a 50 year cold war in which obscene sums of money were spent on more efficient nuclear payloads and delivery systems, and ways to defend against these new develpments. The US supported Iraq during their war with Iran, supplying weapons (bio & chems included) and money. In less than 20 years, all of a sudden, then man that the world's staunchest anti-communist supported, become enemy #1. The US supports Bin-laden and the Muja'hadeen(sp)aka: the Taliban, during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, providing weapons, money and support from US intelligence agents. Next thing ya know, the US and its interests are their #1 targets. Don't worry about being the world's police force and concentrate on making your own country a safer, better place to live. The US truly is a great nation. But greatness just doesn't come from projected military might,(altho one needs that might to hold on to that greatness),it also shows in how the gov't looks after its ppl. Just think about the BILLIONS that have been spent on the war in Iraq that could have been used to feed and house the less fortunate, instead of it being spent in a way that causes others in another country to become "de-housed". Or spent on R&D for new drugs and cures for diseases. Or to provide artificial limbs to those that have lost theirs in accidents. I'm not an anti-war nut or anything. Unfortunately, there are times when wars must be fought. Iraq just wasn't one of those times. And while the Clinton admin "provided" the intelligence on Iraqi WMDs, the problem was how the whole thing went down, which was the fault of no one but the U.N. With ALL the warning Saddam had, he could have easily shipped the bulk of it to Syria or even Iran, knowing that Iran prolly hated the US more than he did. This gave Saddam the same advantage as a drug dealer, whom the police call 2 weeks in advance to say, "Oh btw, just wanted you to know, we're coming to raid your place a week from next Tuesday". That tactic isn't going to prove very profitable. |

Yup, key words though, "supposed to be" They'd all have heart attacks
if they had to actually do their jobs, and I for one think they all need to take pay cuts until the lower class is treated the same way as the upper class. |
