with ice and snow
where is a blizzard between
not where i sleep
and warm covers over
my dreaming head
i would dream of this instead
that the summer has returned
with a mighty green sway
and the lawns in clipped order
roll up to the wild fields
and i see the forest doe
stepping from forest deep
and like a quiet trespassers
across the wild field
slowly walks
to the edge of the short lawn
and with darting ear
in constant alert
is disappearing over the hill
