Topic: What is the music industry up to now? | |

Well, they're at it again. Making rules and regulating our music that WE buy with our hard earned money... The newest thing they're up to is that you CANNOT COPY your own disk on your computer to like put in your ipod or anything else. You can not even make a back up disk of your own cd you bought to keep it safe. What you buy, is what you get and if you break it, wear it out, etc. you have to buy another one....simple as that. They are to the point to where they're becoming as powerful as our government. Now, I buy my music, don't get me wrong, I think you should but, not to back it up for your own use or put it on your computer!!!! I mean come on man, YOU BOUGHT IT!!! What are your thoughts on what the music industry is trying to do with the bands...

The bands make money on the proceeds of purchased merch, this is the long old story that EVERYONE should know by now. Every 2 bucks that you spend on band merch, goes to the bands, their managers, and their promotors. So keep purchasing!LOL

Plus, indie bands are all about the music. Majors anymore want the green, it isnt about performing anymore. Indie bands are so much more easier to work with and they are great down to earth people.

trying.. i do have a question kid rock uses alot of skynd lycs in his songs do royalties to to the band or to kid rock?? he uses sweet home alambama alot in his songs.. Kid, using his own mix, chops, a riffs to SHA, so he "remade" the song to become one of his, he has to ask for permission to the band to use that song before he can even touch it. So whatever kid gets from that song, majority goes to kid. |

What are your thoughts on what the music industry is trying to do with the bands... Your right to make a backup copy of your media is known as "fair use", which is stipulated in federal law. By not allowing to safeguard your media, they are violating your rights as a purchaser of digital media. This is nothing more than corporate shenanigans on the part of the record industry, who would rather hassle the little guy than come up with GOOD music. |
