Given the multiple interpretations of "yall", it would be helpful if you pointed out who you were speaking to.

I am not a "YANKEE" and I am as personally accountable as I can possibly be. We need to get away from the myth that the only way we can affect change is to raise everyone's taxes. I really don't want to start a s**tstorm, this is just my opinion. The tax breaks and perks have been given to the rich for the last six years. I think there are a lot of them that would be willing to do away with those at this point. While I think it is unrealistic to just end the war tomorrow, a steady reduction in force would save billions, not to mention send a message to the world that we do realize that we are not all knowing and while we are willing to assist, we are not a country who wants to inflict our sovernty on the world. Protecting ourselves is one thing, beating everyone into believing exactly as we do is another. Please, do not tell me it's a war on terror because of 9/11. As it's been said many times, not one of those terrorists was of Iraqi origin. Have we ever asked why our intelligence was so good that it justified going to war, but it wasn't good enough to know that 9/11 was being planned? It's time to hold our politicians accountable. There are people who abuse the priviledge of being an American, there are people who abuse the priviledge of being in America, but most of us just hard working people who need a break. The break needs to come from the top, not the bottom.

It used to make me sick all of the faux patriotism that was going around for awhile, everyone with a flag decal or flags on their car aerials, like that symbolism is what makes you a patriot.

I don't think anyone who has never joined the service or made sacrifices for their country can rightly call themselves a patriot. Paying your taxes doesn't count.
