The mere pericardium to guard one's heart
So inadequate to fend some perilous dart
Ventricular passage allowed sorrow's reign
Shrouded loneliness is such withered pain
Resounding echos off of my chambered wall
Tainted love caused this journeyman's fall
Careless whispers lent such a weary plight
Turbulent courses for it's restless night
Within REM's sleep came humility's groans
By daylight this vessel creaks and moans
Words were carved from some scalpeled hand
Naive exuberance had once shaped this man
This carefree heart ventured out for love
An anxious flight of this snow white dove
Departs it's nest upon one beautiful dawn
A virgin landing found such terrible thorns
Seeking the heavens on such glorious flight
Clouds of deception scattered among night
Returned to the bow of some listless ship
The winds howled as I watched the sun dip
With a weathered beak I'll dutifully stare
By harrowing experience had made me aware
Upon this earth lies such a duality of man
This troubled sufferance so I may understand
Thin comprehension from their blackened sin
Some bitter knowledge from it's dark origin
Despite the truth I'll never relinquish hope
Within dwelling sadness I've learned to cope
Let us open dear hearts and seek love again
Not shackled by pain from one's soul had lend
