The ISS fly over last night? At 6:22pm Central time the ISS flew over the southern sky, there was only a two minute viewable window, so I had stepped out on the porch to watch.
After I had watched it streak about half way across the sky, I noticed a much dimmer light traveling at about the same speed & direction, then realized that the Space Shuttle had just recently undocked from the ISS. It was the coolest thing to watch them both fly over with what looked liked only a couple inches apart in the sky. |

Why can't we see it every night?

Why can't we see it every night? Not sure other than a constantly changing flight path. Most of the time you just don't know WHEN they will be flying over and is easily missed. I have seen the Space Shuttle & ISS fly over several other times before, just never together like that. There is a calculator on www.nasa.gov that will tell you the next time the ISS is viewable, I'll try to hunt down that link if any of you are interested. |

OK found that link if you want to view or track the ISS or Shuttle.
http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/sightings/ Oh and a hint: you will want to make sure your clocks are accurate, if there a minute or two off, you'll probably miss it. |

Dude it is awesome to see that, the shuttle AND the station on the same pass. I have only seen that once before. Another site to check out is www.heavens-above. You can check out all kinds of things flying overhead. I find it an easier site to work from. I check it out on a regular basis. Northern MI is kinda cloudy from late OCT-FEB so I haven't been watching too close.

I saw the one last year... saw one brighter what looked like
a star (shuttle) and a dimmer one (station). It was kind of neat! |

I would have guessed that it would have been the other way around, just because the station is a good deal larger. Either way it was very cool to see
