I believe it would be extremely dangerous. If you are lucky enough to survive radioactive poisioning from a suernova or white dward explosion, then you will at least be blinded by the gamma ray photos. I'd rather not get close to that unstable mass of hydrogen and helium, but that's just me. Scott would probally be dangerous too.

The sun is also a star...HOT star. Pretty small and average heat I thought ...checking now Edit: The almighty wikipedia confirms that the sun is on the low end of both the size and heat spectrum when it comes to stars. ...still hot though
