She must have learned it from someone. I would punish my sons if they ever did that to me. Take something away...like her TV, her MP3 player, her computer....till she learns to be respectful of you and to tell the truth.
Once she "misses" what ever you took away....she should "get it" Good luck......your going to need it |

1. Her lying can actually back fire for her in the future. If she wants to lie, warn her that she is getting what's coming to her.
2. Try lying to her and see if she understands where you are coming from. 3. If 2. doesn't work, refer to 1. ![]() |

When my daughter was 14 I punished her by making her go to school wearing scrubs and no makeup. She straightened up very quickly.

My 14 year old niece has been living with me now for over 3 months, and she continues to lie. Suggestions to correct this problem are welcome. Someday you might be in a situration that no one believes in you? And if that happens and you would need or want my witness to your truth, I want to be able to say YES, she has always showed me and spoke to me, the truth. And I believe in her very much!!! I would hate for YOU to make me ever speak bad of you because of you allowing your self to be able to lie to me. I want YOU to always know that someone in this world BELIEVES in YOU...I love you and will stand up against 1000 people towards your truth and the person you are! BUT, I will NEVER lie for YOU! Respect me, because I have ALWAYS respected YOU! ![]() Thats my truth to my kids, and they have counted on me as I have them...on their truth.. its all good.. But for some to see, you need deeper compassions to MAKE them see their wrong,,gronuding, phone use, TV, friends????? Thats all in what you feel they need to SEE??? Good luck man.... ![]() ![]() |

Sometimes kids lie because they are afraid to tell the truth so assure her that no matter what the truth will be better than the lie.

We had the same problem with my nephew....I decided that almost every time he said something I would listen, then ask "Is that the truth or a lie?"
He would get angry and insist whatever he said was the truth. I told him I would love to believe him, but wasn't sure I could. Then I would listen to my niece talk about something she did (true stories)and we would engage in great discussions that were not possible with him because he was being dishonest. This went on for a little while, but once he got that what he had to say had no credibility, he began to think about what he would say and started telling the truth. Ultimately we all want to be liked, and many kids lie to get attention. If they think that no one will listen or believe them because of the lieing, many will stop; or, like my nephew, they may begin saying and doing POSITIVE things to get your attention. Hope that helps ~ it worked for our family! ![]() |
