Twistin' twistin'....in the wind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8nl9Otk0KA TMBG rules! I've always kind of used music as a cathartic instrument The only song that reminds me of anyone is "With or Without You" by U2, which was on my stereo when I was "attacked" by a girlfriend. I wasn't sure she liked me up to that point. I found out she did. That's more of a positive memory, though. Songs that make me sad are ones that remind me of my dad or others who are gone. I'll play them when I'm down as a way to get it out of my system. "Motor Away" by Guided by Voices is one of those songs. He was a racer, and it just has that feeling...It's the second song on this video, it starts after a minute... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN3gmKltn88 |

My first love and I had this song as "our song" and it took me years to get over her.
Whenever I heard this song, I would feel down from being reminded that I lost something wonderful that I once had. After time and some mental reframing, I would feel nostalgic when I heard the song - and I'd even get the feeling of inspiration. The song eventually just made me feel warm feelings inside because I realized that I associated the song with the wonderful FEELINGS I shared with the girl, and not the girl herself. Then, one night I was at this nightclub, dancing on the dancefloor. I started dancing with this random woman. The song came on and I felt GREAT, moving and grinding with her. We made out right there on the dancefloor while the song played, and at that moment I truly knew that music was all about feeling and livin the life... and not a tool to dwell on the past. |

And it reminds you of your past lover. Is it normal to be reminded of her. How do you let it go? of course it's normal. Try to establish a new memory with the song .. otherwise just don't listen to it anymore |

The Song Remembers When - Trisha Yearwood
I was standin' at the counter I was waitin' for the change When I heard that old familiar music start It was like a lighted match Had been tossed into my soul It was like a dam had broken in my heart After taking ev'ry detour Gettin' lost and losin' track So that even if I wanted I could not find my way back After drivin' out the mem'ry Of the way things might have been After I'd forgotten all about us The song remembers when We were rolling through the Rockies We were up above the clouds When a station out of Jackson played that song And it seemed to fit the moment And the moment seemed to freeze When we turned the music up and sang along And there was a God in Heaven And the world made perfect sense We were young and were in love And we were easy to convince We were headed straight for Eden It was just around the bend And though I have forgotten all about it The song remembers when (Bridge:) I guess somethin' must have happened And we must have said goodbye And my heart must have been broken Though I can't recall just why The song remembers when Well, for all the miles between us And for all the time that's passed You would think I haven't gotten very far And I hope my hasty heart Will forgive me just this once If I stop to wonder how on earth you are But that's just a lot of water Underneath a bridge I burned And there's no use in backtrackin' Around corners I have turned Still I guess some things we bury Are just bound to rise again For even if the whole world has forgotten The song remembers when Yeah, and even if the whole world has forgotten The song remembers when |
