Jim - that's what we are doing next Monday.....she's off for presidents day and her mother works....I took off though and we'll make a day of it. She too loves when we go for lunch...or dinner. 
Good for you!! I am going to do the same if I can get away from work,,Federal Holdiays bury us, but dont bet I wont SNEAK out to go to lunch with her! She was so cute today, she asked me who my valentine was going to be..I told her..YOU! and she got so flush it was the cutest thing ever, and to top it off with "Your the best Daddy, EVER!" And people wonder why I am so devoted

WOW!!! Emily asked me pretty much the same thing the over the weekend. She said, Daddy, since Mommy has a boyfriend but you don't have a girlfriend, can I be your Valentine??? I had a tear in my eye when I said "Emily, even if I had a girlfriend you will ALWAYS be my Valentine" The kicker.....Emily won't be 5 until August.....some of the stuff she says just blows my mind.

Being a parent is a wonderful and I am as well a grandmom and a cool one at that, bcuz my babies tell me so and I wouldn't trade them for the world.

i remember my days as daddy...not my kids though,but jackies from her first marriage...
she had to be the one to play the heavy...seeing that they were not from my blood..i felt that i had to right to hand out the punishments.... they were all such great kids...i really miss those days |
