Would you object to someone bringing a young child along on a first date?

Yes. A first date should be a situation where you are with the person you want to date. Adding a young child puts increased pressure on the situation, and might deter the date from you in the future.

I don't think so. But if I had a child, and she had a child, and then maybe we each brought them, maybe?

Also, bringing a child along distracts from YOU getting to know HER, and vise versa. Kids demand attention, and they get it. She'll be paying more attention to the child than you.

I suppose it would depend on the situation. But my only objection to that is this: If it is a first date, and yah'll are not "boyfriend and girlfriend" with the possibility of a commited, long-term relationship, it isn't exactly ideal for the child. I have 3 children of my own, but I wouldn't want a parade of random men coming in and out of their life, it gives them a sense of insecurity and instability. As their parent, it is my job to make sure that they feel safe and have a stable environment. I'd want to first make sure that the relationship was going to go somewhere and that I knew the person well enough to know that they would be someone safe to bring around my children.

But that's just my opinion. :)

Amen, sister! My son meets no one until I'm sure the relationship is serious.

Children can form attachments very easily. Why cause them confusion by bringing someone in to their lives that may not be around for any length of time:smile:

That would show a sign of bad parenting, First dates are not ment for childern at all, or any other date really besides when you get to know each other and both have children and take them to a park but other then that nope.

Yes, what kind of parent would subject a child to that?

I never let my children meet the people I'm dating unless it was a long term commited relationship like I'm in now. Like it was said children get attached very easy. I remember when my parents go divorced, My mom used to say her dates where my uncle, thankgod she got remarried I was starting to think our family tree was way messed up........
Plus my son has Autism, high fuction, so he has a hard time with new people in his life...

Look I am a single mom and I can tell you that my daughter has not met any man period until I have figured out where they are in my life.. this takes me some time .. Statistically in the US 1 out of 3 woman faces sexual assualt and this includes child molestation.. so if you are bringing your child around strangers you are taking the chance with something you have no right to gamble.. that being said what about not just the insanity of this idea but what if the person is a complete Douchebag .. you can't just bail with a kid there .. I still can't believe that you have to have a license for a dog but any idiot can be a parent

I do not involve my child in my dating life until a point when it becomes serious, there is no reason to do so. I think it is irresponsible as a parent to do this.

How many "uncles" does a kid really need anyway? Isn't that confusing for a child?

Parents who do this make me sick..... absolutly sick.
