Tonylee,
Brilliant. Which cities did you visit? What'd you do, eh? Did you see the epic South island in all its majesty? ... Uneeknrare, It's worth at least one "wisit" (visit), definitely. It's Kiwitastic. =) |

great place. it reminds me of scotland. rolling green hills. lots of sheep. the place the hobbit movies were made. great fans of rally raceing. uneeknrare you would love it there. if you get the chance don't pass it up

Yes. Exactly. The rolling green hills and epic landscapes alone make a trip worth while. Then, yes, of course, "The Lord of the Rings" films were filmed there, which is somewhat beyond magical. =)

i started in hamilton which is the north and worked my way south all the way. auckland was fantastic. queenstown was magnificent with some of the most beautiful scenery i ever saw. mountain lakes, rainbow trout, high mountains. went to gold mine towns and watched them mine for gold. went to the slopes and watched my son in law jump his subaru off a ski jump and pull snowboarders up. i took hundreds of pics. i would go there again. but things are a little on the expensive side

Lovely.
My sister and I worked our way from the North Island to the South, as well; makes for a nice, gradual escalation into the epic-ness, so as to not overwhelm the traveler with the scenery too quickly (least one O.D. on the beauty of it all). =) Did you go on any of the Lord of the Rings tours? |
|
|
|
yes because i had my grand daughter with me. i had a great time with her and she loved the little homes. it is fantastic how they kept them up and the way they are in the hill. they made great photos. it sounds like you and your sister had a great time also. when were you there. i was there most of september

Ahhhh, brilliant! You saw "Hobbiton" then! That was the one "Lord of the Rings"-related spectacle my sister and I *didn't* get to see. Sad. Oh well. We intend to return. =)
We went two years ago in February, frighteningly (seems like only yesterday, we donned our Elf ears and traversed the N.Z. hills). Good times. |

if you have not been to australia i suggest you go there next instead of back to new zealand. australia was one of the most exciting and wonderful places i have ever been to. the next best place was the ukraine. my next trip is to south america. as you can tell i have traveled a lot. i can tell you that australia will be an experience you will never forget but please get with me before you go so i can give you some useful info

Hmmmm...Well, whilst down in that part of the world, it'd be almost *too* convenient to pass up going to BOTH. =p New Zealand=Irresistible, in my book.
But thanks for the advice. I shall definitely consult you before going to the great "down under." *Tips cap* |
