If you can come up with those two payments and the fees that the repo place charges you should be able to get your car back

That is when they are most likely to repo a car, when you only owe a few payments, then they can turn around and resell it and make a big profit on it again. They really don't want it if you owe thousands on it, won't make much on it if they resell it then.

Call them in the morning and see if you can still work the deal with them, maybe some miscommunication and they didn't tell the repo man to cancel it, they may still let you have it back and continue to pay it off. See if you can borrow the two payments and pay it off, that may work the best. Worth a phone call anyways. Otherwise, I would try getting a bus pass for now. Once you start working, you may be able to hook up with someone who lives in your area and ride with them, but the bus sounds like your best bet at this point, unless you can get the car dealer to work with you. Good luck.

Unfortunatly there ARE no busses around that go from where i live to work and back.
My family is PISSED that I didnt tell them but thing is that i DID and they had already said they couldnt afford to help out so now that im messed up they are saying i never did. I cant win. *sigh* I got a LITTLE money in today to cover SOME of the payment but not enough. Im kind of hoping someone just stole the car instead. Im just glad i dont keep anything valuble in my car. at best i think i lost $0.58 and an FM transmitter for my Ipod which i dont leave in the car.

How much did you pay for the iPod? For the 58 VTM books? You just need to prioritize better. Short term loan might be the way to go, but be careful if you go near those Payday Loan places.... Good luck!

The repo place never called or anything to let you know they have your car? Anyone I know who had their car repoed got a phone call telling them where their car was and how to get it back.

My friend's step dad had his car repo'd. The bank AND the towing company called him within 12 hours to let them know A) They had it, and B) What he could do to get it back, and C) Where he could go to get "non value-added possessions" back that he had in the car.

Banks (if that's who the loan was through) will often work with a person (at a different rate, payment schedule, etc). Motor vehicle financing departments (Chrysler Credit, Ford Motor Credit, etc) often will seek the full amount or a minimum of 80% of what is OWED on the vehicle.

In many cases, in the contract of any vehicle purchase is what's called a "late retainer fee schedule". Almost always, it's a reference to 60 days of missed payments (two months) before repossession is even an option.

Standard, also, in the contract is the provision for right of notify from a third party retained attorney for any unpaid collection actions. Basically that means, you were probably warned about this before hand.

If none of the above apply to you (Buy Here, Pay Here places, for example, have a whole different set of regulations than traditional "dealerships"), then you can seek to obtain written verification of the debt charged to you (make them prove to you that you, in fact, owe what they say), and challenge the validity of the debt. A civil arbitrator may be assigned to you, if you file these notices with an attorney, and in most cases can secure the car to your possession pending a ruling.

Selling possessions to pay for what you owe, even two months worth, is something to CAREFULLY consider. It can lead to even further finiancial hardships.

In the final conclusion, if the car IS retained back to you, check your credit report, make sure any reference to a vehicle repossession is cleared of your name. Setting up a budget and sticking to it is very helpful in avoiding situations like this in the future.

Truly, best of luck to you. Hope everything works out.
