We are all adults here.. Or at least should be. So we have all been on this rock long enough to have made a few mistakes of our own along the way..
While not being guilty of cheating.. I have done some pretty despicable things in my time. Fortunately a few of my friends, my ex's and family have chosen to look beyond those acts when I came to my senses and stopped. What I am hearing is that many of us in this thread truly believe that we should condemn those in our lives who make mistakes... unilaterally. Can you handle being judged by the same measure? Have you never done anything in a relationship that you honestly regretted and will never do again? Trying to forgive someone in a relationship is not at all a bad thing. It is very hard to do, I'll admit..having been cheated on. However.. should it happen again..I would hope I would still deal with it from a point of considering my own past deeds..as any reasonable person should. |

Are guys so stupid to take their x back after they cheated on them the first time? What makes you think that they have changed and wont do it again? The only way something like this is going to work is if there is full disclosure about the affair(s) and a commitment to the relationship, as well as a serious, concrete, measurable motivation for change for BOTH. I would strongly advise couples' counseling to sort through this. The relationship will never be the same and trust will have to be earned back with much effort and hardship. However, if the people really, really want it, it CAN have the potential to be a BETTER and STRONGER relationship than ever before if there is honesty, full disclosure, and a commitment for change. It is true that if there is a pattern of cheating, no matter with who the partner was, chances are very likely that this leopard will not be changing or shedding any of its spots any time soon, though. I would seriously reconsider getting into a relationship with someone such as this if I were the individual in question. |
