Not on here but I almost fell into a dating scam on My Space. Thank God intuition kicked in and I had the sence to do my research. It could have been really bad.

Almost yes. I found a cutie and she said she was from France. Well she got my email address and 2 days later I was getting offers from some bank in Africa with details on how I can get money from some account. All I had to do was give my bank info and $200.00 to get the process going.

They are slick too-this guy said he was from England and had me believing he was going to come here to meet me and that he was so in love with me. Within the first two days he had sent me roses-which I found out was bought with some poor souls stolen credit card. Then he had to go to Africa for business-and once he got there needed money. RED FLAG!!!!!!! I was conned up to that point. If you google Nigerian date scams you will gasp!

scammed on here? I've been on here over a year, and, if I remember correctly, I've had 2 or 3 scammy-type e-mails. I'm pretty good at detecting them because I was involved in an anti-scam/anti-spam group for several years. As I recall, what happened here was that someone would set up a bogus profile, and then e-mail JSH members in an attempt to get them to go to another site -- I want to say a porn site, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I reported them to the admins, and the bogus people vanished very quickly. There's actually very little of that sort of thing here, in my experience. I've been on sites where 2-3 scammers a DAY was typical. So, 2-3 in a year is pretty good. I'm on one site where I have NEVER received a non-scam e-mail! |
