Is this mostly a Christian site? I mean, are most of the members Christians? Hard-core-type Christians?

Really, I'm just curious. It'll keep me out of trouble if I know before I start posting willy-nilly. :-D

Very pertinent question.

Here is an extract on what the moderators posted under '... Rules specifically for the Religion forum...'

'... Also, topics which are designated for response exclusively from one religion or belief system, or which may cause that type of polarization, will be deleted...'

Most will interpret this to mean that there should be no imposition of a particular religion over others.

In spite of this, this 'public', 'open', 'dating site discussion forum', some people seem to mistake the 'religious chat' as a 'fundamentalist-apologetics-training-grounds', which almost always degenerates in a 'bible-litteralists- against-the-world-food-fight'!!!

So according to the rules regulating this forum, this by no means a christian ideology exclusive site. However, as it is in real life, a few JSH resident 'hardcore fundies' have no difficulties in twisting guildelines, rules, facts and laws to suit their own dogmatic obsessions. It never amounts to much more than an exchange between idiotic claims and corrolate denunciations. Entertaining 'food-fights' at best, a waste of time at worse.

David, I'm a devout atheist and have never had any qualms about saying so.

In all honesty, most of the people here have been very respectful -- even most Christians -- and have not given me any flak about it.

There are exceptions. A few have condemned me to hell, called me a liar and a troll and a murderer, simply for disagreeing with them. They are not hard to spot, if you read through a few of the topics here.

They tend to suffer from persecution complexes and OCD (Overbearing Christian Demeanor). I have found it is best to ignore that small handful, inasmuch as they have no desire to "discuss." They're only interested in conversions and proselytizing and ramming their beliefs down other people's throats.

There are a mix of people and the christians themselves run the gamet...

Some are open to other views but others regard any non-christian as a potential convert or a "bad person".

I wouldn't be too concerned. Some people seem to forget that if things get too heated you can just log off!
