Global warming? Nuclear winter?
Or Armageddon? Unwelcome wind whips wickedly from the west Billowing black cumulus clouds invade the sky and kidnap the sun Dime size drops drop for miles pummeling without prejudice The leaves in the trees quickly turn and disintegrate immediately Bark separates and peels off the wood like the skin of a banana Grass slides down hill and folds like the skin of a Sharpei Shingles curl up and role from the rooftops Paint melts and siding bubbles Concrete and brick become brittle and crumble into dust Wiper blades disappear while attempting to move the rain Windshields warp and tires fall from the rims The lines on the road wash away Traffic lights droop to the pavement Steam rises from everything Screams fill the air and drown out all sound Cooking flesh simmer and smell Men, women, children and animals all melt like cheese in a microwave The storm continues til’ the earths wiped clean A world abandoned and abused She swears off humans How long will her resolve last How long until she births the cycle of violence all over again |
