It appears that the
field is rapidly narrowing
for choice of Republican
and Democratic candidates.

I predict that John McCain
and Barack Obama will be
selected as the Presidential
nominees for the Republican
and Democratic parties.

What do you think?

I see what Hillary and Edwards are doing. They are attacking Obama's confidence and image. If Obama takes this as water off a ducks back, and shows the same charisma and political exuberance, he will have the support needed to make it all the way. Obama has become so much of a threat to Hillary's campaign that she has resorted to attacking his confidence instead of his platform. The surest way to defeat a person, is to attack his confidence. A person troubled by doubt cannot focus on the course to victory.

Not that it won't be fun to watch them slug it out of course.

I personally like McCain,
maybe because he's a Vet.

A little too hawkish for me,
though.

100 years in Iraq would not
be fine with me and I don't
think it would be fine with
the Iraqis either.

for years I like McCain but this year Im looking for someone to shake things up a bit...I dont think any of these guys that are running has the average persons best interest at heart so Im force to choose the lesser of two evils so if it comes down to the two, Im going with Obama...........

I wish Edwards could have
stayed in the race, but
since he's out, I'll probably
go with Obama.

mnhiker..... I go along with your prediction that Barack Obama will be selected as the Presidential nominee for the Democratic party, but I am not sure about your prediction that John McCain will be the nominee for the Republican party.

In connection with the above, you need to remember that John McCain has not been consistent in the primaries. However, Romney has, always coming in first or second. Additionally, Romney has 250 million of his own personal fortune that he can spend on the election. He doesn't have to worry about his five children since they have a trust fund in the amount of 100 million. Money goes a long way --

100 years in iraq? So are you suggesting the Mccain will will change the laws so that he can stay in office for more then two terms then become a cyborg so he can live forever just to keep us in Iraq for 100 years? Because that my friend is a very silly idea in deed. laugh

Down to 4 now with Edwards out. McCain would have to be the favorite on the Repub side, though don't count Romney out. Many Republicans hate McCain(listen to Rush Limbaugh) and may turn to Romney as the Anti-McCain.

On the Dem side, if you look at recent polls, Hillary is ahead by substantial margins in the big, delegate rich atates- NY, Calif, NJ, Mass. Obama leads in Illinois, his home state.

So though I am personally supporting Obama, signs point to Hillary AT THIS POINT. In politics, a week is forever.

So then we have Hillary vs. McCain. I am a Democrat. You know how I will vote.

Mac60 ..... copied/pasted part of your post,

"So though I am personally supporting Obama, signs point to Hillary AT THIS POINT."

Cheer up! No way is Hillary going to get the nomination even though she has more delegates. The DNC has unofficially given the nomination to Obama. Aren't you aware the Kennedy's have declared their support for Obama, annointing him as the reincarnation of JFK!? Additionally, the Democratic female governor who gave the rebutal to Bush's State of the Union Address is supporting Obama. That's it -- the Clinton era is over.

I'm not so sure, leah. The Clintons are master politicians- never to be counted out.

I also must emphasize that though I am not supporting Hillary in the primary, I will support her in the general if she is the nominee. Bush and the spineless Republicans in Congress who have been his rubber stamp have screwed this country up royally.

Whoever the Democrat is, that's who I'm voting for.

I am hopping for Mitt. Like I have said on other topics I consider illegal immigration a key issue and he is the only one that shares my view on the subject. He also supports tax cuts for middle class Americans, which is always good.
