the punishment for the young offenders of violent crimes, are far less harsh then the same acts comitted by adults..

the courts in my opinion are far to forgiving simply because of the age of the offenders.

THEY SHOULD ALL BE PUNISHED THE SAME, DOES IT MATTER IF A TEENAGER KILLS SOMEONE, OR IF AN ADULT KILLS SOMEONE???
OR IS IT JUST THAT THE CRIME IS NOT THAT BIG BECAUSE UR A TEENAGER??

Oh I totally agree.
I think if it's and adult crime it should be an adult time.

WTF??? WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ADULT AND A TEEN AGER IF THEY COMMIT A CRIME LIKE KILLING SOMEONE???

this is true miss ultimate..
they do.
canada has a young offenders act,,that prohibits a youth to be tried in adult courts, and sometimes for very violents crimes...

when a child reaches that age of reason..and decides to use this reasoning with evil intent, the punishment should fit the crime..for the greater good.

thanks for your imput

I think the question is if the person serves time really will learn his or her mistake while serving. If one does hard time do they come out clean and ready to function properly in society. As far as I know many don't and are only worse.
Perhaps a different type of punishment should be required that really works? What kind I will let you decide.

no i figured this out when a long time ago..three youths in a town called beaconsfield..near my home..mudered an elderly couple..and my family knew them..as did i..

they recieved only a year and a half in some juvinial detention home..the eldest of the three.went to toronto and mudered 2 more women.

since then i have been an adrent believer that the laws that govern this country whereas the yuth are conserned shold be dramatically reconsidered

I agree with all of you in that if a young offender commits a serious crime, murder, rape, kills someone with a car, then that person should be tried as an adult and receive an adult sentence.

There was a story in a newspaper around five years ago. A young thug broke into a woman's home, robbed her and raped her. As he was about to rape her, the woman told him she would report him to the police and he'd go to jail. However, if he would walk away without raping her, she wouldn't report him. He laughed at her and said he was only 14 years old and the most that would be done to him was a few years in a juvenile detention home.

He raped, robbed her and served less than a year in juvenile detention.

Lock them up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year no tv, no books, nothing but a blanket and a pillow...and the hard floor, and fed beans and bread and water twice a day.
And a five gallon bucket to go to the bathroom in.
I guarantee you there would not be repeat offenders. Who would want to go back to that?
I have a cousin that has been to prison several times just because he say's he likes it in there.
Everytime he get's out he does something to get throwed right back in. Stuff like robbing people, or breaking into houses.

i would..trust in this...i would change this law if i had the power too

the governemnt of canada feels that we have a duty to be far less corperal where justice is conserned..

I think not only should the punishment be the same no matter the age, but the parents of minors should somehow have to pay for the ramifications of their child's criminal actions. Accountability, my friends, makes the world a better place...

hello miss debbie..being from england,i am sure that you remember this case..it involved the death of a three year old along side the traintracks..the offenders were very young themselves..both under the age of ten i believe..they were tried as adults.does england..or some parts of her..still have this law,or has it been abolished?

WELL I THINK ITS TIME ALL PAID SAME PRICE, U DO THE CRIME DO THE TIME, THESE TEENS KNOW THEY WON'T GET MUCH BEING YOUNG BUT DOES THAT GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO KILL BEAT RAPE AN ETC? NOT TO ME I ALSO BELIEVE IF THEY CAN PROVE WITH OUT A DOUBT ANYONE IS GUILTY INSTEAD OF DEATH ROW SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH MAYBE THEN SOME WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT DOING ANYTHING,

very true miss fury...but in your opinion, can two parents place all of thier love into this child and try to teach it in the best way that they know how..and still raise a killer.
would they still be held accountable then?..
