Topic: A year of despair | |

You said you would be back soon
When you went out on that day Neither one of us could know What would happen and in what way We'd talked for many hours Of how our lives should be Happines, togetherness For you the kids and me We'd booked our next vacation All the details made How things can be turned on their heads Such careful plans waylaid It was the last day of the week And work was finally over Tomorrow evening we'd be there Apart from one stopover. Two hours later came the call A policeman stood at the door His face was taught and grim 'I'm afraid sir, there is some bad news May I perhaps come in?' He informed me that a driver. Who'd had to much to drink Had drove up on the sidewalk Before an eye could blink He'd hit you at colossal speed. You'd had no time at all He'd slammed your body and our childs Up against the wall You'd stood no chance You'd felt no pain It was over all so quick. The hairs on my neck stood up Was this just some bad trick? Reality hit at the hospital When your bodies I saw there So cold, at peace and yet There I was in despair This happened just one year ago And still the pain survives Let this be a warning to you all DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!
