Use an 'Easy Out'...

Lots of ways. Vise-grips, Pipe wrench, weld another head onto the bolt. They also make special sockets for just that reason. Can also try hammering on a slightly smaller socket (preferably a 12 point).

if you stripped it bad enough.....back yard mechanics.....lol put a penny inbetween to get some traction on it to turn it....i swear it works

i need help i striper the head off the bolt on my car and i wanted to kno if anyone knew any way of getting it off with out breaking it where is the bolt at? they have a tool you can attach to a drill to get out. but depending if were tourqued or not, you may have to go to a mechanic and have them take care of it.. or if it's a piece you can take off the car a machinest can break it loose too. |

Also, depending where it is you can heat it up with a torch or if it's on the engine, let it warm up to normal operating temperature to help it a little.

its on the timing chain cover and its inset on the casing and i cant get vice grips in on it and i cant get a drill up into it and id hat to have to pull the motor for one bolt

if it is a transverse mounted engine, drill a 1' hole in the inner fender(fill later with a body plug) then you can get a drill to it. Otherwise, pull the radiator and fan and you should be able to get to it with a drill. Then, use an easy out

Those arern't normally torqued to tight, so probably the best bet is hammering on a smaller socket or getting a specialty socket. Unless you have access to a tool truck (Snap-on, mac, etc) you can get cheap sets at Sears ($10-20).
