..do you add someone to your messenger? Over time I have become less reluctant to add people before I've had some correspondence via e-mail first and gotten a sense about them. Sometimes this is not received well.

I have to have some sense of who they are before I add them.

I think it depends on what feeling you get. There are some really great people you meet along life's highway, but there are also those that will take you are a detour.

If someone cops an attitude because I'd rather corresponde via email for awhile rather than add them to my messenger right away...they just get ignored. There is nothing they can say to me on messenger that can't be said in email. First impressions are a good sign for me...those come in emails intitally OR if they participate alot in the forums.

...then again, there are the people who 'appear' one way in the forums, (due to it being public), and are totally different people once you speak to them on messenger or on the phone...Robin, you and I have a common past person that is like this. SCAREY...ya never really know what you are dealing with!

I get sort of annoyed being asked right off the bat for my messenger ID. In the past I've accepted those invitations and then discovered all they were after was feeling me out, so to speak, for cyber sex or camming...not for me...

I regard my messenger list as more intimate, folks who have taken the time with me, and I with them, to get to know them first.

I usually wait a while. Once in a while I'll add right away. Usually it is fine.
