and I'm depending on you guys. I know there MUST be a way to access public records on the internet FREE OF CHARGE. After all, they are public records!
I've run on to many sites that "find" records such as arrests, marriages, divorces, sex offenses, etc., however, there is a charge for getting them. With the wealth of knowledge available on this site, I am confident someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance...........

Why? And what are you looking for? Specific docs?

not knowing what you're looking for...have you tried finding the county's website? Sometimes you can access records from there if you know what county to look in.

OK.......specifically..........my EX is supposed to register as a sex offender although his trial is still to come. The state is charging him (and he was arrested for) rape of a minor. I can find no record (free, anyway) of his arrest.

He probably won't be registered until after sentancing, but you can always go the court house & get what records they have;^]

most states have sex offender websites.just google your state and there should be a link.. |

in wisconsin you can look it up in the state criminal court system..it will list all current and past civil.municipal and state charges against a individual..this includes thier driving and any other criminal records.

Did you call the Law Enforcement Agency that made the arrest? If you want a copy of the record of his arrest, I would start there.

most states have sex offender websites.just google your state and there should be a link.. He can't be registered if he hasn't yet been convicted, that'd break every standard in the books. Since it's local, the court house is the best place to get the info. You won't find anything online that you won't find in court record unless it's some journalists opinion;^] |

You won't find anything online that you won't find in court record unless it's some journalists opinion;^] yes...he must be convicted and sentenced first. then the court will demand he register. nothing will be done until this has happened first. |
