We joked and talked for short periods of time
About things that strangers usually do.
Little things that didn't really matter.

Days went by and I felt more at ease
To ask you things about yourself and your family
You felt the same and asked about mine.

One day, out of the blue, you said I have a question for you
"When you speak about me what do you call me?"
And I hesitated for a moment, afraid of what to say.

I told you I called you "someone special"
"Someone special I met online" to be exact
And you asked if you could be more than that.

I found myself wanting that more and more
Wanting to be more for you than just a special friend
But I laughed and said "Aren't I to old to be your girlfriend?"

I held my breath because I didn't want to hear
You tell me, "that is true, forget it"
Instead you said "I would be honored!"

I told you things that made others run
And you sat there with tears on your face.
And said "I wish I could hold you and make that go away."

I fell asleep one night with you on the phone
When I awoke, you were stil there.....
You didn't hang up but asked why I cried in my sleep.

Problems that plagued me and haunted my mind
You took care to erase from my mind
I helped you find things about yourself you never really knew.

We joked and talked for long periods of time
About things that lovers usually do
We found that all things really matter.

For in this time, I have given my heart to you.
You hold it with more love than anyone ever had.
And you know that I will cherish you until the end of time.
