Topic: The difference between "need" and "want" | |
---|---|
What's your definition?
I have many friends that are in relationships with the wrong people and are just miserable in life. But, those are the one's that "need" to have someone. I dont need anyone, do I "want" someone? Yes, that would be nice, but I cant settle to be with someone just to fulfill that need.... Any thoughts? |

No, needing or wanting...what's the feel of that to others?

I agree. I want to have a companion, friend and lover but I don't need to have it, as I am a complete person by myself. It would really be nice but it is not a need.

That's great..someone who can feel complete or content without having someone, it would be nice, but life will continue if not. You should be proud to have accomplished those feelings. It's tough for a lot of people |

Well, I do have an unmet need in my life for constancy. However, I certainly do not need a man to be whole or complete.
Yes, I need companionship of the opposite sex, someone whom I can grow and experience with, to feel fulfilled. As for choices? Well, I realized a couple years back that what I usually want is not what I usually need. So, I stopped actively seeking out. These days, I am allowing Them to seek me. It has been working out better. I have been attracting more of what I need. |

I 'want' a relationship with someone fun to be with, someone to bring joy into my life like I would bring to his..(hopefully..lol)...but need? Seems like lately my needs are fulfilled..full time job..two little boys with lots of needs of thier own..keep ya busy and your mind off your own needs.
Now..other type of 'needs'? That, my friends..is a whole different ball game....lmao..those needs for a companion, lover and friend and lover..(oops..did I say that one twice)..well, they can wait... darn it... |

I want someone to share my life with but I do not need it to happen. would rather take my time and let things happen naturally.

Thanks. Wish me luck. I need it.
I know I have lots of Friends that are rooting for me to do the right thing, though. Of course, I'm sure Their idea of "the right thing" includes a life with Them. lol |

Life teaches us many lessons, that's for sure. Being needy tends to lead a person to pick someone out who isn't suitable for a relationship. When a person wants to be with someone, they tend to take a longer time to pick someone to be with, and it's wiser.
