For whatever reason, or lack of one; for whatever justification, or lack of same, I should never have made a comment, any comment, that would hurt an 18 y/o on this site or anywhere else.

Yeah, sure, I meant it as humorous. However, I’ve raised both of my girls with the understanding that “It’s now always what you say to them, but it is always what they hear” that’s important.

My youngest daughter was attacked harshly when she posted a rate-me type profile, at my behest to get it over with. She’s 18 and she handled the harsh criticism with a smile at me that said, “Challenge.”

Not everyone has truly been raised at all - much less as she and her sister were.

My attack on this young man, though clothed in humor, was just as harsh (to him) as those directed at my daughter were to me. In his place, I would demand satisfaction. We can’t duel, but I can state I am very ashamed. Very ashamed.

It takes a big person to apologize Alone...

I would hope I'd take a different tact then you did. So I understand your needing to apologize. However.. I also understand that there were a few who were out of line, both young and old... and never did hold themselves accountable to how they treated your daughter and then you.
I would also hope to see that in an apology that does not include disclaimers and bullsh!t rationalizations, justifications for their behavior.

Don't worry about it. Don't be ashamed. Your sincerity shows through. I'm sure he'll forgive you. Plus, sometimes harsh criticism can help people to SNAP out of it and show them the truth to light. Not that I read what you wrote ... But I think it's cool that you're apologizing sincerely. Bravo!!
