Is there that wannabe "renegade" in all of us (especially growing up), but even into adulthood?
Say you grew up in the 80's and you were the first one in your town to buzz your head and blast the Sex Pistols. A year later you can buy "custom ripped shirts" at Robinsons. That was for you and your buddies and they noticed it, mass produced it, diluted it, and left it for New Wave. Just an example but it seems common and "popular" to want to be somewhat of an outcast. To say "No..I am not NoRmAl"! |

Funniest thing my sister said about my niece..."I hope she does want to become a "Goth" when she gets older so she can "be an individual". |

In all honestly I think I go with societal norms BUT I don't let myself get trapped into "bangs are in this season, pink is the IT COLOR" etc.. I do what I want and find that it's still the IN thing somehow... |

That's what I was getting at too. When you discover something very cool....a somewhat tight knit community....and it's all yours. You want to share what's cool, but you don't want the saturation |

You want to share what's cool, but you don't want the saturation so true. personally, i see that with music. one day, i'm really into this tiny band that plays a show to like 100 of us and the next day they're on mtv! it's like...well, i'm happy for you. you deserve it. but i kinda wanted you to just be "mine." |

I think more than ever now, it's so conventional to want to be unconventional.
