I think I already have what I want for Christmas - good friends. Got my
dad moved out of the house into the nursing home today - with the help
of my good friends. Then tonight, about 8 p.m. or so, he and his wife,
decided they would come over and tear out the carpeting in my living
room, worked really hard on it, old carpeting, house was a rental, etc.,
maybe 12 years old, worked for about 3-1/2 hours, wouldn't let me pay
them, looks wonderful in here. Yeah I got my Christmas present - my
"unofficial adopted son" and his wife. They have been here whenever I
have needed help, fix whatever breaks, etc. Actually cost me a couple
of bottles of Pepsi and Diet Pepsi. My Christmas is covered, thanks.

was there hard wood underneath marie?

Yes, thank God, but some idiot put some laminate on top of it, so we got
it down to the laminate this time, and have to take it farther, will get
it to the hardwood next time. Am so excited to get to the hardwood.
The house was built in 1940. Russ kept saying it has to have hardwood
floors if it was built in 1940, but I wasn't sure. Found a place in the
living room that was patched with plywood for some reason, will have to
figure out how to fix it though, but yes, got my Xmas already. And two
healthy grandkids who love their granny, and things are looking up.
Thanks for asking KB. Have a great day. Mine is really looking up.
Take care.

that patch is an easy fix marie but it is time consuming. i've picked up
some useful stuff along the way and i can tell you how if you want.

That would be great, but think Russ has it covered, the guy knows about
all there is to know, he can build a house from the ground up and he has
taught himself to play piano, wooden flutes, guitar, bango, drums, and
probably other instruments along the way too, was a massage therapist,
and that dude has more talent, wish I had a fraction of what he has.
But thanks will let you know if I need the help when the time comes,
really appreciate the info. We are talking about "flipping" the house,
fixing it and selling it so I can buy something smaller and cheaper to
live in, that won't cost so much to maintain.

I do appreciate the info and will let you know when the time comes if I
need the help and thanks again.
