Why would my girlfriend tell me she wants kids and that I'm the man she wants to be with, and then 2 days later tell me she needs to take 2 steps back and just be friends? thats all there is to the story and nothing else has happened.

Or, new friend in her life. or, YOU gave her SOME reason to doudt YOU. Or, she was drunk when she first told you THAT!...lol

either shes flat out crazy or you didnt respond the way she wanted you too.
