did ya wear a hair net? did ya take the job? and yea i have to agree with others... u need a food handler license and should be a employee to go in the kitchen especially due to the laws as u must know..... if u got hurt they would be liable...

its just a burger ladies.!!!! lol It's NOT just a burger.. it is the fact that a restaurant would allow anyone off the street to come into the kitchen and cook!! There are laws to protect the public and this violates those laws. |

it's not "just" a burger. it's a violation of the health code...
not to mention, if she slipped, she's not covered on the insurance. or if she contaminated the food...that's not covered, either. in arkansas, you don't have to have a food handler's license...but it would still be the dumbest thing a restaurant could do, just about. |

Sounds just plain phony to me. I am sorry but I don't know ANYWHERE that you would have been allowed back i nthe kitchen, let alone allowed to cook on their equipment. As it has been said, their are laws and insurance issues, OCIA (sp?) being the biggest of them. And I can garuntee you if it was found out that a manager allowed this to happen? Not only would he lose his job, he would be looking at being in front of a judge for various health code violations, the insurance on the place would more likely than not be dropped (and unable to be picked up againa by anyone else) and the resteraunt in question would be shut down.
So I am sorry, but the idea of you simply getting up, marching into the kitchen and making your own food (even if it was for your friend and not you) is just plain ridiculous. |

i DID work at one small-town steak-house where friends of the owner routinely came into the kitchen. a couple even cooked their own steaks.
OSHA doesn't regularly come into restaurants...when they do, they are more interested in the MSDS (material safety data sheets) and the chemical bottles being labeled correctly than anything else. it's the health department that would be concerned with who is cooking the food. |
