I'm 21 and a single mom to a 17month old boy named Matthew. He's super energetic and loud. Loves to climb and throw everything and when he doesn't get his way he likes to slap, pinch, or scratch. He's really ornery but also very sweet and lovable. I met his father when I was 19 and a freshman in college. I got pregnant In November just a month and a half after dating his father and once I went home at the end of the year on April 28th I never heard from him again. I take that back, May 6th was the last day I spoke to him. The 28th was the last day I saw him. He lives in Iowa and I'm in Missouri and the only exchanges we have is letters from child support. I don't have a job but I've been looking and I have gone to 2 semesters of school since Matthew was born. I have to take this semester off cause tuition isn't paid off from the fall. Feel free to check out my profile and find out a little more about me.

I dont know what it feels like to be a single mom but I am in school with a job and thats hard enough for me. I can only imagine how stressful things must be. Little kids tend to love me I think because Im the only one who will get on the floor and build a fort with them. If you can find time for yourself things will work out for the best.

It is refreshing to see a person so young trying to better themselves. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I am single mother of one. She is eight years old. I went back to get a degree when she was 5 years old after I turned thirty and took stock of my life. I was in a very unhealthy relationship with my daughter's father. It was not easy for but I split with him and went back to school. My daughter's father hated me for quite sometime but in court I explained to him "you and me don't count anymore, this is not about us , it is about kayla, and she needs both her parent, we don't have to like each other but we do have to respect each other, the problem between you and I is over we split up, it is now all about our child". I had the courts stipulate that his visitation and his mother's grandparents right was during my college time. Two years later when I got my associates I got a card in my mail box from my daugher's father saying that he was proud of me and that he was sorry he gave me a hard time. In June I will be done with school. You can do it too. If you ever need to talk feel free to email me. Been there ,done that, about to finish.

Thank you all for your kind words and support. Congrats Anaka(sorry if I got that wrong) on finishing school and getting things straight. I'm still not sure of what I want to get my degree in, there's so many things I've thought about. I just don't know what I'd like to do every day as a living.

I have a new born son and I'm 18... Going to school can be hell with the lack of sleep but just to see the smile on my sons face when I get home from an exhausting day at the school makes all that hard work I'm doing worth while! I know how hard kids can be especially when they are energetic, years of babysitting and three younger siblings can teach you a lot just hang in there and savor all that life and energy because look at how older kids are these days... You might end up missing it later down the road.

I am pregnant right now and due this February. I'm 21 years old and this is my first child (I'm scared as hell). I was planning on going to school this April to become a Pharmacy Technician, but since I'm scared of how parenting is going to be, I started having doubts. But, after reading all yalls posts, it's giving me some courage.
Cheers to all my fellow single mommas. |
