I don't declaw it looks painful =X I do trim them with speical nail clippers and its not as painful, but thats like saying getting beat with an aluminum bat is better than a wooden one

They are put to sleep and don't feel it. :) And as I've seen from both of my cats that were de-clawed, they don't even realize it happened.

With my volunteer work at the animal shelter, I've been clawed, bit, climbed, scratched, and attacked by crazy cats, so i guess the claws don't bother me anymore. And people wonder why I don't take care of my hands (other than washing them before eating and after bathroom duty), its because every week it goes back to looking like I fought off a crazy animal...well I fought off 50 cats, so that counts lol

Rats aren't so bad. I had a few trained. I even trained a couple of them and they can fight. Two of 'em - Ratsputin and Bad Bad Leroy Brown stayed at each other. Impressed enough with them, I even started trying to develop a fighting style "Way of the Rat" but found you can get the crap beat out of you when you're on all fours!
