I sit staring at a glowing bulb.
Dimmer and dimmer,
It fades day by day,
And it won't be long,
Til it fades away.
I dread the day.
The light will decay,
And sink into gloom,
With a palpable taste of doom.
I dread the day.
The bare corners,
Their cobwebs and dust,
Will fade away,
In the dimming dusk.
The shades are drawn,
No light from outside,
I know now,
I'm in for a hell of a ride.
As glooms takes over,
I will bow my head,
And try to fight,
My growing dread.
I dread the day I know is coming.

But as I stare,
The light grows strong
And I think,
I might be wrong.
But ever steady,
It turns so bright
Because you are here,
You are my light

A candle.

On my dresser, is a white candle, given to me by my only love.
I think, if there were a symbol of what we shared, it would be a candle.
Like a candle, it burned brightly..Shining a light on my world that I had never known.
But, like a candle, it only burned for so long, then went dim. It never went out for me, though.
Through all the storms of my life...The wind, and the rain, it stayed lit.

That light is like a star...Guiding me through all the days of my life.

I will never forget the brightness of that light.
The blessings I received.
It's a part of me now.
Who I am.
