I thought deactivated meant no more sex.

It could be...

Maybe we should have a poll to see what deactivated means to different people :joy:

But sometime the attention is fake or made up

I've always thought. ..

1) you have to be in it, to win it (be pro active)
2) finding love or a soul mate is like looking for a diamond in the rough (your gonna find Lotsa plain old stones before you come across a real gem)
3) you need a thick skin to ward of the naysayers...

Other than, anyone can win.. Or lose (to fakes n scammers)...

People deactivate for a myriad of reasons.
Often, to reactivate at a later time.

Deleting post history, simply because one chooses
to deactivate instead of log out, isn't just butt dumb.
It's downright vindictive.

Yes people could deactivate for any reason, but I feel more comfortable when my data is deleted, after all it's MY data...

The thing I can't stand, and it also sows seeds of mistrust, is when you want your data deleted but the site would like to hang on to it... "in case you return" translates into "so we can sell your data"....

To me if they deactivate their account then all their posts should be erased too.

That wouldn’t work at all.

The deletion of user’s posts shrinks the body of knowledge and would also make many of the contributions of others incomprehensible. And what about all their quotes too? Many discussions would end up being nonsensical and there would be no threads left if that were to happen.

Well that may be so but some come on here post once then deactivate their account without getting a chance to reply and so on. Not only that some posts and topics have the same titles just different wording so in other words their wasting space on here.

And what about those users who deactivate instead of logging off? Should their posts automatically be deleted too?

The posts doesn't get deleted - but their names do. Just says Unknown

Cheers for that info Bob

I was thinking...
I don't know who this unknow person but they're very prolific in the forums :joy:

Legally, due to the TOS we agreed to, the site
owns the data.

Few as they were, the admins and mods we had, great as they were, were often assigned many
duties. Making them too busy, to delete the
posting histories of everyone who deactivated,
or got deactivated.

Let alone, the numerous current and previous
posters, who simply want their histories deleted,
because they "changed".

Hell, if I could, I'd delete my own posting history, pre 2015.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about the dreaded TOS, that one agrees to...

So yes you're right, legally we're screwed....

I find it strange that an account is deactivated but you can still see their profile!

Oh I've never come across that...

I understand some people deactivate their account as opposed to logging out though...
