That is deffinatly true.

As an atheist, I spend very little time in the Religion forum --there are a few posters who are so incomprehensibly bigoted and self-righteous that many of the threads devolve into blanket putdowns of anyone who does not share their beliefs; and "you're going to hell" is not an uncommon phrase there.

Which of course, carries no weight to those of us who view their beliefs as nothing more than fairy tales.

My bottom line is that when someone's entire line of reasoning is "My beliefs are true because I SAY they are true (or because a book of fairy tales claims truth for itself)" there really is no point in arguing. They are no longer open to listening or thinking anymore. All they want to do is be condescending and smug and condemn all unbelevers to their imaginary "hell."

I feel sorry for those people. We're not living in the 1400s anymore. Well, some of us aren't.

i live in the south,tennessee to be exact so have religon crammed down my throat all the time i just dont like some book telling me what i have to believe in or how to tell me to live my life.

Not all people believe the same as you. We are all different and so are our beliefs. If you can't handle it get out of the forums other than that listen to their point of veiw.

I think you need to back it up because you obviously don't know what's going on here. I wasn't shunning anyone. I was stating my point of view and others were getting snotty with me. So think before you type.

Everyone has a right to believe what ever they want and exprese that. Its not that they are saying what they believe and I get upset. Its when people start saying mean things and personally attack people thats the problem.
