I have yet to find a true horror movie The Japanese originals of The Ring (all three), The Grudge (1 & 2) and Dark Water are masterpieces of creepy, unnerving horror if you don't mind subtitles. Hollywood runis good Japanese films |

the grudge was pretty bad for my son ..he still leaves the room if its on.
I think The Shinning was scary in its day..but the worse scare I ever had was when I watched Blair Witch project all by myself one night...I slept with all the lights on |

They may not be the best but the Nightmare on Elm Street films have always scared me soooo much I could not sleep.

The first Night of the Living Dead gave me the "best" scare, cause theres a zombie attack in the first minute of the movie. Theres just some woman at a grave, and "boom" theres a zombie and as a 10 year old that made me shizzt my pants. No other movie made me jump as much as that one scene did.
