Topic: Love by deeds not words | |
---|---|
Literally just before my girlfriend left me in 1994 she asked me if I loved her. I felt that if I had said yes that it would only be because I didn't want her to leave me right there and then. My behaviour in the days leading up to that point did not imply (convey) that I was one in love with her. I was disrespectfull and selfish. She obviously didn't feel loved, and I didn't think it would be appropriate for words to replace what actions should have taken care of. I couldn't bring myself to answering yes - I felt as though it wouldn't be sincere. She did leave, and my heart broke. I'm not one to easily throw around the word love. I did love her. Our relationship rightfully ended not because I didn't love her, but because I didn't show it. I think the problem of showing love is something that tends to happen in long term relationships. My point is simply this: it's not whether or not you love someone, but rather whether or not they feel loved. , but God has repaired it, Amen.

true words and glad your heart has mended, i always think of what my mum and dad had together for nearly 40 years and boy they had some bad times but also some great ones but it was a partnership they showed each how much they cared by the things they did for each other everyday, even to the end when my mum got sick...i hope to find that one day and hope you do too

Nice Bro. Youre positive attitude and openess to change is really refreshing from some of the other guys whining and blaming everything but themselves in a cheap ploy for attention here. Youre a class act Bro and you have my respect...

Wow Derek......hearing a person take responsibility for their actions!! They are hard lessons for us to learn, but in the end the pain is worth the wisdom we gain.

I agree with Justkev, it takes a really good man to admit to that kind of thing and to learn from it and to grow. I'm glad your heart has mended and I wish you the best of luck in finding someone to love.

We all hope to find "it". The truth is that we are loved by a love so great it is almost unspeakable. He who made our hearts is able to easily fill them. When the filling comes oh how sweet it will be. So you look forward to having your hopes met, and don't settle for the sake of settling.

Thank you for sharing those insights Derek. I believe you will be better prepared in the future, due to what you have learnt through that experience.
God bless. |

Hummm all I can say is Wow that is awesome and yes it takes a very strong person to tell all they made a mistake in life.
Wel all do it but most don't want to admit the fact as well. We learn from our mistakes and until we can face those truths then we shall neve learn. For one to take the time and to look within most of the time we will see it is not always the other person that was to blame for we must blame ourselves as well for our actions or lack of actions. I'm impressed with your words and being strong enough to see within the whole picture instead of just the lining of what happen. May you find what ever in life your seeking in the New Year to come. |
