Joe Perry (Aerosmith) said in his book "the only guy who blew us off the stage in true rock and roll style was Rory Gallagher".

I guess I misread the intent of this thread?
I thought it was a Rory Gallagher Tribute thread? I guess I should have paid more attention to the title. I enjoy many forms of music, much which never hits the airwaves nor the charts. My interests also have many shades and styles, from standard instruments like drums & guitars, sax and keyboards to electronic compositions and midi files. I find talent in vocalizations as well. From scat singing to chanting and wailing. Depending on my current mood, I listen to and enjoy a wide range of audio stimuli. Many years ago, I found what is called 'trance'. I find there are many 'genres' of trance music which appeal to me. Currently, I'm in a progressive trance kick but I still like PsyGoa and Ambient. I've two websites I frequent for a trance fix. HBR1 http://www.hbr1.com/ and Psyradio http://html.psyradio.fm/ I can direct my Winamp to those sites and use Stream Ripper to capture the music for my collection. I like Wayne Lytle's Animusic midi files. http://www.animusic.com/ Animusic can also be found on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1R00IEIOehIRTv5XoXkacA/videos?view=0&sort=p&shelf_id=2 I also like the music found in symphonic metal but I don't care for the harsh male vocals. Some of the women have angelic voices tho. Some of the music videos are amazing productions that often have complex, intense visuals. A few bands: Epica Xandria Nox Arcana Nightwish Within Temptation I'm also VERY fond of Guitar Blues. I blame Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan for that. Rory Gallagher, Hot Tuna, Ten Years After, Deep Purple, Allman Brothers, Govt Mule, Janis Joplin, Humble Pie, Joe Walsh, Johnny Winter, CCR, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, The Guess Who, Foghat, Mott The Hoople, Nils Lofgren, Rare Earth, Savoy Brown, Alan Parsons Project, Tony Joe White, Uriah Heep, ZZ Top, The Grass Roots, UFO, The James Gang, Toto, Bread and many others influenced my interest in the Blues. I thoroughly enjoy Trampled Under Foot, Seasick Steve, Aynsley Lister, Chris Thomas King, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Beth Hart, Eric Johnson, Cee Cee James, Ian Parker, Calum Graham, Matt Schofield, King King, The Nimmo Brothers, Samantha Fish, Tinsley Ellis, Twelve Bar Blues Band, Walter Trout and too many more to list. I'm fond of Sax & Harmonica when blended correctly. I like Indian Flute meditation music, Native American rhythms, and Asian Vocal serenades. I even occasionally enjoy Pagan Instrumentals. RORY GALLAGHER LIVE IN PARIS 1980 - Incredible live show including Shinkicker - Last of the Independents - Bad Penny - Off the Handle - Bullfrog Blues*
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftS2K9G2Yjw You'll see the way Rory interacted with the crowd, one of the reasons he was so loved by his fans. One of my big regrets was the first time I was in Dublin and Rory was still alive I had planed to see him and he was playing in Greece IIRC and I had to leave Dublin a day early causing me to miss him. Rory is not well known here in the US due mostly to his fear/hate of flying so he only toured here a couple of times. All these sounds without the use of any effects other than a treble booster, he is the undisputed Stratocaster tone master. He is also the guy that Hendrix really did say was the best! He is a household name in Europe. * for Lars, at 29:40 is the best live version of Bullfrog Blues |

Just to chime in, you mention the blues, and did not mention Peter Green, so, I thought I would

Just to chime in, you mention the blues, and did not mention Peter Green, so, I thought I would You're right, if Peter Green would have not lost it and stayed with Fleetwood Mac they would have been entirely different. I've always thought that "So What" was a great and amusing song (not that it was a blues song) and I just listened to it yesterday. |

Just to chime in, you mention the blues, and did not mention Peter Green, so, I thought I would Yes, I have Peter Green and the Original Fleetwood Mac "Out Of My Mind" is a song Peter Green did with Rory Gallagher. "Showbiz Blues" is another one. |
