I have been wondering cause I have been getting alot of this lately.
Why is it guys ( maybe girls too) want phone numbers right away? I don't talk to these guys on the site and they email me a sentence or 2 then ask for my phone #. They say it's hard for them to write what they want to say but yet they also ask to IM and if I ask them just to email for awhile until we get to know each other then they seem to get upset. I joined a dating site other then this one too, and it happens on there too. |

Hi!
The way I think is if they can't wait to get to know you for a while....They are not worth knowing Take Care and have a Great Christmas P |

some guys like to get personal right off the bat.is easier for them to talk then it is to type out an email.
Guys are sometimes strange like that.Depends on the guy i guessYou should leave a boundary regardless of whether they like it or not. |

If they're too dumb to write e-mails, you don't need to be bothered with them in the first place! Giving out your phone number can lead to all kinds of problems, so you really need to be VERY sure before you take that step! Only 2 people on this site have my phone number, and one of them I knew BEFORE I signed up here! Be careful out there, it's a jungle.... |

I don't know, maybe they're just looking for a hook-up and don't really care whether they know you or not?

myself, I leave that up to them, as to whether or not they give me their number..I don't ask, I figure when they're comfortable enough with the way things are progressing, with time, after getting to know each other better, they'll either pass it on to me, or they won't. I usually offer mine, so it's no pressure on them..then, if they want, they can call me, or not..i'm pay as i go anyway

Lex is right on the money!!!! take your time before giving out your phone number. i hate to type also. i am not good at it. but i will take the time first so i can get to know you and vise versus before asking for a number. it is not safee in the real world. be careful. if they are in a big hurry forget them!!!!

Thank you!!!
I knew I wasn't being a fuddy duddy or being "way too cautious" but as you know the world changes and the customs of dating change too. |

the guys who want phone numbers right away are the ones that just want sex right away. they see getting the phone number as a stepping stone they must conquer toward getting laid.
however... if you really wanna know whether or not he has some sort of hidden agenda, go ahead and talk to him over the phone, preferably using a private/restricted number (you call him) and judge whether or not he's creepy by how he speaks, voice intonations, inflections, emotions conveyed, etc... you know, all that stuff you already innately know how to do as a female. |

...wuts wrong with someone wanting to talk through an instant messaging program? true, askin for a number after a couple of emails is odd and sketchy...but wuts wrong with askin for a screenname or something?

I don't ask for ladies phone numbers. After I have E-Mailed them a few times then I may or may not ask for their Personal E-Mail Address and I may or may not give them mine.

I don't mind giving them my email address for IM as the info I have on my account is all hog wash on hotmail except birth date. So they can't get anything from that unless someone really thinks my name is Pixiestyx Candy.
As for phone number I only give it once I have talked to the guy enough. But I have been given guys numbers and told to call them on the 1st message from them. When that happens I will tend to ignore the number for awhile. |

I gave my number to one after thinking I was comfortable talking to him here on JSH and then on yahoo messenger. He was fine on JSH , but a totally different person on yahoo and on the phone . Red flags left and right . I am so thankful there wasn't a in person meeting with that one! |
